Dr. Don Groot is one of North America's foremost authorities on cosmetic laser surgery and the impact of aging on the skin. He holds a fellowship in dermatology in Canada and is Board Certified in the United States.

 


In addition to his own thriving dermatologic surgery center, Dr. Groot is a Clinical Professor of medicine at the University of Alberta. He has written books, published numerous scientific papers, contributed chapters to several medical textbooks, served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Contemporary Dermatology, hosted seminars, and moderated television and radio programs and lectured worldwide on various medical subjects. Dr. Groot sits on the board of several medical societies and is a clinical research consultant for several laser companies. He is best known for his expertise in cosmetic dermatology and laser surgery. From San Francisco to Istanbul, London to Brasilia, Barcelona to Sydney he has taught plastic surgeons and dermatologists his surgical techniques.

Dr. Groot graduated first in his medical class receiving four gold medals for his achievements. He has been honoured with many awards and was recently invested into the Order of St. John for his humanitarian efforts to help individuals with disfiguring disorders of the skin.

Dr. Groot is a team physician for a professional hockey club in the National Hockey League and personally participates in community games of hockey and basketball. He shares his love for flying, astronomy, fly fishing and mountain sports with his family who spend much of their recreational time in the Canadian Rockies.
